Logan and Wade are escape artists. We bought and moved into my parents' house 2 weeks before Camden was born. He couldn't have been more than 2 weeks old when this happened. Our house on the campgrounds was empty and Jason was heading down to show the house to a possible tenant. I had to nurse Camden - so we put Logan and Wade into their bedroom and told them it was quiet time. No big deal right?!? I mean - the vent story hadn't happened yet - so what would we be worried about?!? Riiiiiiiight.
The boys were in their room...and I decided to lay down on the couch while nursing Camden. I could see the road from where I was laying - but nothing else. Jason leaves....I watch him drive in the direction of the campgrounds. The boys were pretty quiet - which of course was the plan. It was "Quiet Time" right?!? Then I saw Jason driving back here. Hmmm.....must've forgotten something. Next thing I know - Jason's walking across the front yard. What in the world?? He walks back towards the garage.....w/ Logan and Wade tucked under each arm.
WHAT IN THE WORLD!?!?!?
Apparently - Jason forgot the key to the house on the campground. Praise the Lord - because when he was driving back to the house - he saw Logan and Wade in t-shirts and draws running around in circles on the front lawn with their arms rasied as if doing a "we're free" dance! Did I mention we have a large pond in our front yard?!?
Needless to say - we had to put screws in the tracks of the windows to ensure they couldn't open them far enough to get out. Fire hazard - possibly....but we had the top part of the windows were able to come down so we were okay with that. We can always break a window right?!?
Better than them falling in the pond! ;)

Lock 'em up!

What's down there???
Okay - so - here's the famous vent story. It's quite embarrassing as a mother having this happen under my watch....but at the same time....it's just downright hilarious!
Back 5 years ago - Jason and I bought my parents house...the one I was born and raised in. Logan was....3.5 years old...and Wade was 2. I'm still not sure how wise this was at the time - but they shared (and still share) my old room. Well, the two of them were in "quiet time" so I could get some sanity. I heard giggling and such - and went into their room to check on them - only to find them quickly dropping the floor vent back into place.
Hmmmm......I bet there's a toy down there.....
So - I asked Logan "what did you put down there?"......nothing......So - I did what any mother would do. I lifted up the vent because whatever toy they shoved down there SURELY needed to come out! Logan started giggling. Hmmmm........"what are you laughing about Logan?"
"Dere's poopy down dere"
"Riiiiiiiight.....what'd you put down there Logan?"
"Dere's poopy down dere"
"Logan - there's not poopy in the vent"
"Uh-Huh! Dere's poopy down dere!"
"No there's not - and I'm going to show you!"
Probably - Rule #1 should be to trust the 3.5 year old! He's giggling...AND...adamant.....hmmmm
Apparently I don't catch on to the "signs"...because I have to tell you - when I grabbed a hold of that dry....hugely round.....long.....and extremely dried out turd....I screamed in disgust.
Of course - that sent my two adorable little boys in a furious laughter! I wanted to say "why didn't you tell me!?!?!?" HA! He had....and I wouldn't listen. I'm not sure who decided to do that....I'm not sure how.....or why....or WHEN it got in the vent for that matter....but that is a memory that will stick...eh-hem...haunt me forever. lol

Camden
Well - here's our latest story. I'm just waiting for the next one to begin - but I really hope it's not until he heals from the last couple of weeks! lol
2 weeks ago - we had our pull out bed out for either my cousin or Paige to sleep on. I'm not sure which one - and either way - it's not really relevant to the story. ;) Camden was jumping on the bed or whatever - and bumped his head. So - he had a nice knot on the left side of his forehead. Mind you - he never cried....3 days later - in school. The class was walking to the bus - and Camden had both his hands in his coat pocket. You see this coming - don't you! lol He tripped...and his forehead broke his fall....and no - it didn't hit the same spot as before. He got another knot on the right side of his forehead So - here we had this little boy that looked like he had horns coming out of his head!
So - just as those knots are green and showing signs of getting much better. We of course need to make this a bit more interesting.
For my nephew's birthday - my sister, some friends and all their families including mine went to the cottage for the weekend. Ping-pong is quite big among these friends - so we had the ping-pong table up on the air hockey table ready to go for that night's competition. (oh - and if you're wondering - I'm #8 lol) Stacey - a good friend of ours was upstairs where the ping-pong table is - and did I mention there was 10 kids up there? They were all running around the ping-pong table and wouldn't you know - Camden ran into it. Stacey said he didn't cry or anything so she didn't think anything about it. Carole came upstairs w/in a couple minutes of it happening and found him with his head in his knees. When she had him look up at her - his right eye was covered in blood. Of course she screamed for me - and I just couldn't believe it. lol Panicking just doesn't happen for me anymore......more or less my first reaction now is "you have GOT to be kidding me!!!". So - I threw us together and we headed in for stitches. They were able to use super glue...so we were in an out pretty fast....but what a black eye that turned out to be! I obviously had no idea......
Let's fast-forward 1 week.
Cam's right eye still didn't look great yet....but was healing nicely. Carole and I had a photo shoot Saturday....and with our husbands' in Florida and the snow blowing - I was snowed in at her house that night. I put Camden in the shower and wouldn't you know - within just a few minutes - he had slipped and hit his left upper cheek bone on the built in shelf in Carole's shower. I've never seen a knot like that before! Feel free to check out my facebook pictures.....I took daily pictures ;) The bruise has been so bad that I haven't been able to send him to school or take him into public places....b/c seriously....it just looked that bad!
Oh - and I guess I haven't told you that it seems like Mondays are "explanation Mondays" according to Camden's teacher. I'm almost always dropping Camden off on a Monday saying "we had another thing happen......." I'm sure he'll be a student she never forgets!
So - right now - his bumps on his forehead are gone......the right eye is pretty much healed.....and his bruise around his left eye is fading. Praise the Lord we've made it through these two weeks! I really thought I was going to lose my mind! haha! So - until the next crazy thing happens - this is the most recent.
Until then....... ;P

People keep telling me.....
that I should write down all the stories that have happened with my boys. I've seriously thought about it - and just could never remember to keep a journal w/ me....or even remember where that journal went! I'm surprised this hasn't come to me sooner - as my sister is a HUGE blogger - and I am a HUGE techie. Why haven't I thought about this before?!?
Well - here's a place where you can hear all about the stories of my boys. Dobson says that the #1 job of parents of boys - is simply to just keep them alive. I can tell you that I completely understand and embody that statement! lol Some of the stories - will be just me remembering what they've done in the past. My biggest goal is just simply to get them down. Some of the stories will leaving you wondering "how in the WORLD!".....welcome to my life ;) lol
Anyways - I'm going to start writing the stories - maybe someday write a book w/ it and help another parent out there just feel better about themselves! It's the times when I have people tell me stories of their kids that I praise God I'm not alone. It's by His grace these kids are still alive - I'll tell ya that! So - when you read this blog - feel free to laugh....(at me or with me - I usually get both)....share your own stories.....share w/ your friends....and most importantly - pray for me!
Watch for the stories to start popping....I have LOTS to tell! ;)
