Camden

Camden has a tendency to crawl in bed with Jason and I. A lot of the time - we just wake up - and he's there! Last night Camden went to sleep with Jason while I worked on packing etc until 3am. Since Cam has a tendency to move a lot - I carried him to his own bed...and, at 7am we woke up with him in ours! Now, Jason has a hard time letting a sleeping kid sleep! He just feels the need to rub their faces, pinch cheeks, and even moving them closer to cuddle. I must say - it's something that I usually just LOVE...my husband LOVES his kids. However, sometimes....I don't want the kids to wake up! Today is one of those days. So...Jason starts messing with Camden...next thing I know...he lifts up Camden's leg and I hear a huge fart! Of course - I look at Jason thinking...couldn't you do that in the bathroom?!? Jason falls on the bed laughing because apparently - that was Camden!! Thankfully he stayed asleep...but it was a great start to Jason's day....

Typical Logan....

Going to the cottage is supposed to be a 3 hour trip. Now having the kids - it usually takes 4 hours. So on our way up recently, Camden and Wade fell asleep. Logan....who is NEVER at a loss for words...asks "How much longer until we get there?" Jason said "55 minutes". Logan said "So what should we talk about for the next 55 minutes to help pass the time?"

Not really a "funny" story....but something I wanted to document...you know...for his sake ;) haha

Not if you're the chicken.....

This morning my mom called me on the way to drop Logan off to school and asked if Wade could go to the post office with her to pick up her chicks. Of course, Wade has been asking every day when the chicks would come...and I was running late to school...SO...I dropped him off at the end of the driveway and he ran up to the house. On my way back I called my mom and she told me how Wade was holding the box of chicks...and how he was being gentle with them. She had told Wade to be careful with the chicks because if he dropped one they could break a leg. He said "break a leg!?! that mean's you're lucky!!!!" "Not if you're the chicken!" mom said.

Logan.....hahaha.....

Thursday Logan had a field trip w/ his class to a teddy bear factory, park, and then the Jiffy plant all in Chelsea, MI. Of course I have to drop the ball somewhere along the line - and I forgot to pack lunches. Not too big of a deal...especially since I drove! :) So, the time comes for lunch and Logan and I head to Taco Bell...on our way back he says "Mom, do you think when I turn 16 I can hold a serious relationship?" I replied "I'm sorry...what was that!?!?" "a serious relationship"...."I'm sorry - you have to start from the beginning because I didn't quite catch the whole thing" He said it again "Do you think when I turn 16 I can hold a serious relationship?"
What a loaded question for an 8.5 year old boy. Thinking about my parents at 15 meeting and staying together...me at 18....there's an honest chance of that happening to him....so I told him "Well...if you are living your life for God and no one else...and the girl you want to date is doing the same with her life, then yes - I think you could hold a serious relationship at 16. You're thinking about marriage aren't you?" Logan said "Yes...I'm thinking about Karley and me...I'm not sure if she's the girl God wants me to marry someday...I was just thinking about it".

I have 2 more stories of what he said yesterday....but that'll have to wait for now...I'm at the cottage w/ a book and hammock calling my name! ;)

Are ya cold Camden?!?!

The poor child...we could help but laugh! We had offered to wrap him up in a towel...but he said he wasn't cold! haha! The only thing I wish...is that we started videotaping earlier...watching him try to open up the candy was hilarious as well!

Camden was misbehaving!

I received a phone call from Camden's teacher a few weeks ago....and I saved it so I could post exactly what the teacher said...too funny!!

April 1, 2009

"Hi Heather this is Barb Harlow just calling to let you know that Camden had a little bit of trouble behaving in the bathroom today. I told him I was going to call you to let you know. He was actually crawling under the stalls when people were in there going to the bathroom. and then he chose to crawl under all one whole row of stalls and lock all the doors. So he was crawling on the floor in the bathroom and locked all the bathroom stall doors. So...that was really inappropriate which I know you know that. He didn't like the fact that told him that I was going to call and tell you that and he said he was going to tell his daddy then...and so I said I'm sure that you will tell him that you did what you were doing that in the bathroom. So I just wanted to let you know that I told him that that's not a good thing to do at school, not a good thing to do at the store, not a good thing to do at a restaurant, wherever he is that he has to go to the bathroom. He can't walk in on people or crawl under the door, or crawl under and lock the doors. So I just wanted to let you know just so you're aware and he's standing right here so he knows I told you. Thanks."

Cancer!?!?

Monday was Logan and Wade's first day back to school after spring break. I went to go pick up the boys and thought I'd check with their teachers to see how their day went. Mrs. Domke (Logan's teacher) was very serious...and said "Are you okay??" I said..."yeahhhhh....why?" lol She told me she didn't mean to sound so matter-of-fact...but she asked "Do you have cancer?" I chuckled...and said "No...lol..what happened?!?" She told me that the class was praying for one of the teacher's daughters who found out she has cancer. Logan apparently raised his hand and said "My mom has that! She has cancer!" So...I had to explain that I had pneumonia....not cancer! LOL

Funny kids.....

Celebrate Life

This really is more funny if you "know" my kids...which if you're reading this...the odds are that you "do". :)

I took Camden to the library on Friday to drop off Stars Wars IV and pick up Star Wars V. Camden wanted to carry the movie so I let him...besides...it distracted him! Anything that distracts Camden is a WINNER in my book! lol So as we're walking I hear him say "Mom! This is a swmmarm twrooper!" Wow! I was impressed! Then came "Dwarff Fader"....and lastly, a crystal clear "Yoda"! HAHA! Outside the home in non-familiar places to Camden...I understand maybe 30-40% of what he says....so this was a GREAT day! :) Too funny though....obviously Logan's teaching him things!

Speaking of Logan.......lol.....
We went to Celebrate Life on Saturday up at Richfield Nazarene. Instead of drawing a picture this year, Logan and I decided that he would make something with his Legos. I thought it was perfect b/c he's so GREAT at making things! Well, we get there to the room where he's to drop off his creation...which was some form of a boat...but had lots of "things" and "possibilities" to it..lol...and there was a perfectly made "police station" and "church". I though...uh-oh...NOT GOOD! And what Logan said was EXACTLY what I thought he'd "think"! He said "Uhhhh....Mom??!! THOSE are KITS!!!" with a tone of disgust! HAHA! I know what he was thinking....it was "hey! they cheated!" haha!

Disgusting.....

Today Jason and I met my wonderful mother-in-law, who was brave enough to take all three of our boys for the weekend, at Pizza Hut in Flint. Jason headed to class while Mom and I walked the boys out to the car to switch car seats etc.

Logan was walking right behind me and I heard him say:
"Why would someone leave perfectly good teeth laying here in the parking lot?"

Needless to say...I slapped these "perfectly good teeth" out of his hands....
Eeeeesh.........LOL

What did you do to the fork!?!?!?

Tonight Jason was with the boys while I went grocery shopping. Logan and Wade were cleaning their room and Jason walked in their room and found this fork in the Lego bin.....
When Jason asked Wade what happened....Wade gave his "I'm the guilty one" face...and said "I don't know" with a smirk....haha......
Logan proceeded to tell Jason exactly "how" Wade bent the fork....something about putting the fork in the carpet and bending it until it was exactly how Wade wanted it.....
hmmmmmmm........not sure............LOL

Where's your pants Cam?!?

You know, I think that's a question I've asked all three of my boys....more times than I can count! ;)

Anyways - yesterday - we're warming up for our volleyball game....keep in mind, though, that it's a co-ed team. ;) Thank GOODNESS the other team and families had not started arriving....
Camden disappeared....I sent Wade to go find him. This is a normal occurrence as he will make himself home at the school. :) Next thing I know, I hear "uhhh.....Coach!! Camden doesn't have any pants on!!!" I looked over - and there he was....in his sweatshirt....and socks. No pants....No drawz.....Ahhhhh!!! lol I said "Camden! What are you doing!" (as I ran across the court) and he started jumping and running to me! LOL Thankfully - the sweatshirt BARELY covered his cute little butt cheeks....but the jumping surely didn't help his case! He said "I went poopies Mama!"

LOL He's so funny.....I ended up having to go into the boys bathroom to wipe him....Thank goodness it didn't happen mid-game! LOL

Where's Granny??

I forgot about this one....it just happened last week too...

Me and all three boys pulled into my mom's driveway - and up ahead was Papaw's car. I said "hey Wade - who's here?" He said "Granny!!!!"......a second of silence....."umm....no honey....not Granny....." "Oh! I mean Papaw!!!!" "Yeah! Papaw's here!" Both Logan and Wade go running to the barn to see Papaw.....

Meanwhile....Camden says "Where's Granny?!?......Did Granny died?!?" I said "Yes honey...Granny died....she's with Jesus!" Camden said "What??" as he had a shocked look on his face.....and then started crying....

Now...it's not funny...but it is.....b/c his reaction was basically like "why didn't you tell me!?!"

Two days later....same thing.....except no crying....lol So stinkin' cute that boy! :)

Camden said What?!?!?

So - usually I don't have stories on things that Camden says...mostly because we haven't been able to understand him. That being said - by what he said yesterday, reminded me of something he said a few months ago....so let's start with that one.

Camden had been in preschool for a while - and the speech therapy had really been helping! We can now understand about 60% of what he says at home.....and 40% of what he says out in public. That's a huge leap for him! Well, we were walking to class and a rough looking guy (who was dropping his kid off at the regular preschool across the hall from Cam's class) was wearing a t-shirt w/ a skull and cross bones, a doo-rag on his head, and earring in his ear, and missing some of his teeth. Camden about came unglued and said "Look Mom!!! A PIRATE!". Thankfully the guy just laughed.....but I was mortified....and thankful at the same time that I could understand my son! ;)

That brings me to yesterday. I'm coaching volleyball right now...yes I know....over-committed...and since I'm coaching - I pick up Camden from school about 20 minutes early to get to practices on time. This is week 3 out of 4...and so he's gotten used to this. I happened to be running behind - and when I got to his class - everyone was behind the closed door lined up w/ coats and backpacks on to go to the bus. Barb, his teacher, opened the door when he saw me and let him out - closing the door behind him. As we start to walk away - Camden looks back, waves, and says "See wah woosers!!" Now, I have no idea where he got that from! LOL I told him "Camden! We don't say that!" He replied "oh, sahwwy mom!"

Then today - this one's just cute - Cam was singing a song on our way to mom's...and sang these words: "I Camden....I'm a biiiig boyyyyy.....I'm not a girlllllll" LOL

Anyways - that's the stories I have on Camden "saying funny things". I'm sure there's more to come in the near future - especially since we're understanding more and more of what he says....

One thing's for sure....our lives will NEVER be dull with these 3 sons of ours!

Who's your girlfriend?

So...a little background on the two girls who will be mentioned.
Karly (Logan's girlfriend) is a beautiful little girl in his class at school. So sweet and quiet.
Paige is our babysitter, is practically like a sister to me, and sometimes even a daughter. She calls Wade "boyfriend" and has recently actually become serious with a college guy named Miles.

That all being said..... ;)

On the way to school today, Logan told me that he loves "Camp Edge" aka Camp at the EMD Nazarene Campgrounds. I told him "Isn't it neat that you go to the same camp that mommy and daddy went to? That's where we met!" Of course - I clarified that he met Auntie first...and I think that confused him. lol Since we tell the boys "no kissing till you're married", heehee, I can't tell him that that's where he kissed Auntie once! LOL Logan seems to think that Auntie would have....or should have known that "Dad" would be my husband someday - and was shocked that she didn't tell me that they were friends. I explained that it would be just like him and Karly being friends....and her later on marrying Wade. Of course - this sent them giggling! haha! That's when Logan informed me "Karly's not my girlfriend anymore mom!" I asked what happened. "I don't know?!? She just gave me a note the other day that said 'I have a new boyfriend'!" lol "Awww buddy! I'm sorry!"......"That's okay mom...I'm too young for that stuff anyway!" My sweet boy. That's when Wade piped up...."You can have Paige!" "No, Paige is yours.....she's ALLLLL yours!" HA! That's when Wade laughed and said "but Mom....Paige has a new boyfriend....Miles!" Now, this cracks me up because this has been going on for quite some time. Paige comes in the house and says "Hey Boyfriend!" She doesn't call him Wade...only Boyfriend. I think it's because for one, he does have a crush on her ;) and two he's shy....so he gives the cutest smile when she does that! LOL So at this point - I had to explain. I told him "You're her pretend boyfriend remember?!? When Miles is here - he's her boyfriend...and when Miles isn't here...you're her boyfriend!" and if you know Wade....his response of "Oooooooooo" was just too funny and cute!

At the end of the conversation - I asked Logan "Hey buddy! Who's Karly's new boyfriend?!?" He said..."I don't know! The note didn't say!" LOL

Oh the innocence of little kids. They crack me up!

I don't want to hear it!

So...Logan yesterday told me he had a bad day...well...one thing bad happened...(he lied to the principle). He filled me in on everything - and the principle (Mr. Pederson) and his teacher Mrs. Domke took care of it. So - I didn't feel as though extra discipline was needed unless it happens again. That being said....He also told me this:

"Today Mr. Pederson came into our class to do history." (He meant "current events" b/c apparently when the class doesn't have phy. ed. the principle will come in and go over current events with the class) "He started reading about Barak Obama and I raised my hand and said 'Mr. Pederson, I don't want to hear about Barak Obama. I don't want to hear ANYTHING that he's doing or ANYTHING about him! Can I go sit in the hall and wait until you're done reading about him?!?' " LOL Mr. Pederson said "Sure - wait in the hall and I'll let you know when I'm done". LOL

Now, I haven't taught Logan this. We did not vote for the man - BUT - he is our president and at some point - Logan will have to learn about him and his time as president. But...for now - it's pretty funny in our book! HAHA!

Granny's Funeral

So - today wasn't going to be an easy day....I knew that! It was instantly made more difficult when my husband was seated in a different area because he was a pole bearer. Thankfully I had one of my closest and dearest friends with me - Becky. She sat in the next aisle ready to take Camden should he not sit still well enough. Thank goodness! Camden had to go potty early in service...and other than that....he just couldn't sit still! With Logan and Wade bickering and fighting over gamboys etc...I had had enough! Camden went out to the lobby with Becky and watched a movie - while I handled the other two.

Before we got to the church - I specifically told the kids that things would be "different" at this church than what they're used to and to ask questions AFTER the service.......yeah.....they really did do okay - but a couple times they just couldn't help themselves! lol

The priest lifted the communion and sang some monotype-ish song....that really didn't take long at all.....and sounded like what cartoons have monks singing....okay - so you have that in your head. I looked at Logan and Wade expecting.....expecting.....exactly what I saw! haha! Logan's face was contorted in a "what in the world" kind of face! Thankfully - he listened to my instructions to be quiet and I'd answer his "why in the world did he do that?" question.

So....we make it a few more minutes......

Then comes the incense ball? I am not Catholic....so if you are and you read this - please know that I am not being disrespectful....I just do not know the customs and have a hard time explaining what I "see". Okay - that being said -

The priest brought out the incense ball and started swinging it around the casket. Why? I really don't understand...but I will tell you that it was a very....VERY.....thick smell. I honestly started to gag.....and I could feel my lungs not wanting to allow this foul air into my lungs....BUT - before I could really respond to that - I look down at Wade who has his hand in the air and plugging his nose saying "that stinks Mom!".....okay....so - as I try to get him shushed lol Logan says "Why is he doing that Mom?!? That really smells bad!! *cough*cough*cough* I smell flowers *cough*cough*cough* or trees! *cough*cough*cough* So - here we are quite the group. I can't hardly breath, Wade's plugging his nose complaining of the smell, and Logan's hacking up a storm trying to guess what the scent is! LOL

All I can say - is that if Gran were there - she would've been laughing like crazy! I sure will miss her!!!!

Lock 'em up!

Logan and Wade are escape artists. We bought and moved into my parents' house 2 weeks before Camden was born. He couldn't have been more than 2 weeks old when this happened. Our house on the campgrounds was empty and Jason was heading down to show the house to a possible tenant. I had to nurse Camden - so we put Logan and Wade into their bedroom and told them it was quiet time. No big deal right?!? I mean - the vent story hadn't happened yet - so what would we be worried about?!? Riiiiiiiight.

The boys were in their room...and I decided to lay down on the couch while nursing Camden. I could see the road from where I was laying - but nothing else. Jason leaves....I watch him drive in the direction of the campgrounds. The boys were pretty quiet - which of course was the plan. It was "Quiet Time" right?!? Then I saw Jason driving back here. Hmmm.....must've forgotten something. Next thing I know - Jason's walking across the front yard. What in the world?? He walks back towards the garage.....w/ Logan and Wade tucked under each arm.

WHAT IN THE WORLD!?!?!?

Apparently - Jason forgot the key to the house on the campground. Praise the Lord - because when he was driving back to the house - he saw Logan and Wade in t-shirts and draws running around in circles on the front lawn with their arms rasied as if doing a "we're free" dance! Did I mention we have a large pond in our front yard?!?

Needless to say - we had to put screws in the tracks of the windows to ensure they couldn't open them far enough to get out. Fire hazard - possibly....but we had the top part of the windows were able to come down so we were okay with that. We can always break a window right?!?
Better than them falling in the pond! ;)

What's down there???

Okay - so - here's the famous vent story. It's quite embarrassing as a mother having this happen under my watch....but at the same time....it's just downright hilarious!

Back 5 years ago - Jason and I bought my parents house...the one I was born and raised in. Logan was....3.5 years old...and Wade was 2. I'm still not sure how wise this was at the time - but they shared (and still share) my old room. Well, the two of them were in "quiet time" so I could get some sanity. I heard giggling and such - and went into their room to check on them - only to find them quickly dropping the floor vent back into place.

Hmmmm......I bet there's a toy down there.....

So - I asked Logan "what did you put down there?"......nothing......So - I did what any mother would do. I lifted up the vent because whatever toy they shoved down there SURELY needed to come out! Logan started giggling. Hmmmm........"what are you laughing about Logan?"
"Dere's poopy down dere"
"Riiiiiiiight.....what'd you put down there Logan?"
"Dere's poopy down dere"
"Logan - there's not poopy in the vent"
"Uh-Huh! Dere's poopy down dere!"
"No there's not - and I'm going to show you!"

Probably - Rule #1 should be to trust the 3.5 year old! He's giggling...AND...adamant.....hmmmm

Apparently I don't catch on to the "signs"...because I have to tell you - when I grabbed a hold of that dry....hugely round.....long.....and extremely dried out turd....I screamed in disgust.
Of course - that sent my two adorable little boys in a furious laughter! I wanted to say "why didn't you tell me!?!?!?" HA! He had....and I wouldn't listen. I'm not sure who decided to do that....I'm not sure how.....or why....or WHEN it got in the vent for that matter....but that is a memory that will stick...eh-hem...haunt me forever. lol

Camden

Well - here's our latest story. I'm just waiting for the next one to begin - but I really hope it's not until he heals from the last couple of weeks! lol

2 weeks ago - we had our pull out bed out for either my cousin or Paige to sleep on. I'm not sure which one - and either way - it's not really relevant to the story. ;) Camden was jumping on the bed or whatever - and bumped his head. So - he had a nice knot on the left side of his forehead. Mind you - he never cried....3 days later - in school. The class was walking to the bus - and Camden had both his hands in his coat pocket. You see this coming - don't you! lol He tripped...and his forehead broke his fall....and no - it didn't hit the same spot as before. He got another knot on the right side of his forehead So - here we had this little boy that looked like he had horns coming out of his head!

So - just as those knots are green and showing signs of getting much better. We of course need to make this a bit more interesting.

For my nephew's birthday - my sister, some friends and all their families including mine went to the cottage for the weekend. Ping-pong is quite big among these friends - so we had the ping-pong table up on the air hockey table ready to go for that night's competition. (oh - and if you're wondering - I'm #8 lol) Stacey - a good friend of ours was upstairs where the ping-pong table is - and did I mention there was 10 kids up there? They were all running around the ping-pong table and wouldn't you know - Camden ran into it. Stacey said he didn't cry or anything so she didn't think anything about it. Carole came upstairs w/in a couple minutes of it happening and found him with his head in his knees. When she had him look up at her - his right eye was covered in blood. Of course she screamed for me - and I just couldn't believe it. lol Panicking just doesn't happen for me anymore......more or less my first reaction now is "you have GOT to be kidding me!!!". So - I threw us together and we headed in for stitches. They were able to use super glue...so we were in an out pretty fast....but what a black eye that turned out to be! I obviously had no idea......

Let's fast-forward 1 week.

Cam's right eye still didn't look great yet....but was healing nicely. Carole and I had a photo shoot Saturday....and with our husbands' in Florida and the snow blowing - I was snowed in at her house that night. I put Camden in the shower and wouldn't you know - within just a few minutes - he had slipped and hit his left upper cheek bone on the built in shelf in Carole's shower. I've never seen a knot like that before! Feel free to check out my facebook pictures.....I took daily pictures ;) The bruise has been so bad that I haven't been able to send him to school or take him into public places....b/c seriously....it just looked that bad!

Oh - and I guess I haven't told you that it seems like Mondays are "explanation Mondays" according to Camden's teacher. I'm almost always dropping Camden off on a Monday saying "we had another thing happen......." I'm sure he'll be a student she never forgets!

So - right now - his bumps on his forehead are gone......the right eye is pretty much healed.....and his bruise around his left eye is fading. Praise the Lord we've made it through these two weeks! I really thought I was going to lose my mind! haha! So - until the next crazy thing happens - this is the most recent.

Until then....... ;P

People keep telling me.....

that I should write down all the stories that have happened with my boys. I've seriously thought about it - and just could never remember to keep a journal w/ me....or even remember where that journal went! I'm surprised this hasn't come to me sooner - as my sister is a HUGE blogger - and I am a HUGE techie. Why haven't I thought about this before?!?

Well - here's a place where you can hear all about the stories of my boys. Dobson says that the #1 job of parents of boys - is simply to just keep them alive. I can tell you that I completely understand and embody that statement! lol Some of the stories - will be just me remembering what they've done in the past. My biggest goal is just simply to get them down. Some of the stories will leaving you wondering "how in the WORLD!".....welcome to my life ;) lol

Anyways - I'm going to start writing the stories - maybe someday write a book w/ it and help another parent out there just feel better about themselves! It's the times when I have people tell me stories of their kids that I praise God I'm not alone. It's by His grace these kids are still alive - I'll tell ya that! So - when you read this blog - feel free to laugh....(at me or with me - I usually get both)....share your own stories.....share w/ your friends....and most importantly - pray for me!

Watch for the stories to start popping....I have LOTS to tell! ;)
